One of the first things we did when we were trying out the 3M DI-NOC carbon fiber vinyl was cover the lightswitch back plate. We had just painted the office a dark grey, so we though it would match perfectly…and it did 🙂 Here’s a little run through of what we did:\r\n\r\nWe used a 12″x12″ 3M DI-NOC CA-421 carbon fiber sheet (although we could have obviously used a much smaller piece), but you can see it in comparison to the switch plate:\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\nFirst we covered the front of the plate, and trimmed the edges a bit:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nNext we pulled the edges and affixed it to the back. We used a heat gun to help stretch the material. This helped to make sure the edges…and especially the corners were taught:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThen we took an exact-o knife and cut out the holes for the light switches. We then pulled the pieces and stuck them on the back:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWe didn’t have black screws yet, so we just simply took a sharpie marker for now and colored the screws black:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nHere it is installed, it looks great!\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nHere’s a shot from a little further back:\r\n\r\nTags: home, interior, light switch, lightswitch, office
